Celles, Lac du Salagou
Hérault (34) Octon. The abandoned village of Celles. The village was due to be submerged when the Salagou Dam was built; the residents were rehoused and compensated, but the final water level turned out to be lower than expected. The village was subsequently cordoned off and closed to the public, before being squatted in over the years. A regeneration project is reportedly currently underway.
